Bac-Zyme Waste Digester Enhancing Wastewater Treatment Efficiency and Preventing Bulking Sludge Problem.

Bac-Zyme® Waste Digester is a high-performance microbial and enzyme formulation designed to degrade high concentrations of organic matter and accelerate the decomposition of sludge in wastewater treatment systems. It enhances competitive exclusion against bulking or rising sludge issues caused by filamentous nocardia bacteria in final clarifier tanks of activated sludge or high-aeration systems. This improves rapid floc settling and boosts the efficiency of wastewater treatment facilities across various industries and municipalities.

Benefits include:

  • Rapid degradation of high-strength organic waste and animal residues.

  • Accelerating the decomposition of carcasses and organic sludge.

  • Enhancing rapid floc formation to prevent bulking sludge.

  • Reducing BOD, COD, FOG and Suspended Solids (SS) in treated effluent.

  • Resolving rising sludge problems in final clarifier tanks.

  • Increasing the treatment capacity of wastewater systems.

  • Absorbing shock loading from toxic or high organic influents.

  • Neutralizing foul odors through natural organic acid oxidation.

  • Stabilizing biological processes and speeding recovery after system upset.

Bac-Zyme® Waste Digester plays a vital role in maintaining efficient, stable, and compliant wastewater treatment operations while supporting environmental sustainability and regulatory standards.

Bacteria Enzymes Concentrated for Bulking Sludge Problems

Direction for use and application rate :

In a 100 cum3 wastewater treatment plant systems, multiply 100 cum3 by 1,000 liter/cum3 by 1,000 g per liter by 10 parts and divided by 1,000,000. This equals 1,000 g per day to be used for normal preventative maintenance treatment.

100 cum3 x 1,000 liter/cum3 x 1,000 g/l x 10 parts = 1,000 g/day
                                1,000,000
Flow rate can also be used to determine the volume requires for normal preventative maintenance. Calculate the weight of the total organic contaminated wastewater flowing into the waste treatment system and add 10 to 20  ppm by weight. During normal maintenance program, the point of application should be in an area which allows the product the maximum time in the system.

These normal preventative maintenance rates are based upon:

  • BOD ranges of 250 to 500 mg/l
  • Minimum D.O of 2 ppm
  • Optimum pH range of 6.5 to 7.5
  • Maximum water depth of 3 meters
  • Negative effects on biological growth rates are possible in the presence of varying concentrations of heavy metal in the mix liquor solution. i.e. mercury, hexavalent chromium and inorganic cyanide wastes.
