Enhancing Wastewater Treatment Efficiency and Preventing Bulking Sludge Problem.

Bac-Zyme® Waste Digester enhances competitive exclusion against bulking or rising sludge issues caused by filamentous nocardia bacteria in final clarifier tanks of activated sludge or high-aeration systems. This improves rapid floc settling and boosts the efficiency of wastewater treatment facilities across various industries and municipalities.

Benefits include:

  • Enhancing rapid floc formation to prevent bulking sludge.
  • Reducing BOD, COD, and SS levels in wastewater treatment effluent.
  • Speeding up recovery time from operational upsets.
  • Resolving rising sludge problems in final clarifiers.
  • Increasing the capacity of wastewater treatment systems.
  • Absorbing shock from toxic influents.
  • Neutralizing odors through natural organic acid oxidation.

Bac-Zyme® Waste Digester is essential for maintaining effective and compliant wastewater treatment operations, ensuring environmental sustainability and meeting regulatory standards

Bacteria Enzymes Concentrated for Bulking Sludge Problems

Direction for use and application rate :

In a 500 cum3 wastewater treatment plant systems, multiply 500 cum3 by 1,000 liter/cum3 by 1,000 g per liter by 2 parts and divided by 1,000,000. This equals 1,000 g per day to be used for normal preventative maintenance treatment.

500 cum3 x 1,000 liter/cum3 x 1,000 g/l x 2 parts = 1,000 g/day
                                1,000,000
Flow rate can also be used to determine the volume requires for normal preventative maintenance. Calculate the weight of the total organic contaminated wastewater flowing into the waste treatment system and add 5 to 10 ppm by weight. During normal maintenance program, the point of application should be in an area which allows the product the maximum time in the system.

These normal preventative maintenance rates are based upon:

  • BOD ranges of 250 to 500 mg/l
  • Minimum D.O of 2 ppm
  • Optimum pH range of 6.5 to 7.5
  • Maximum water depth of 3 meters
  • Negative effects on biological growth rates are possible in the presence of varying concentrations of heavy metal in the mix liquor solution. i.e. mercury, hexavalent chromium and inorganic cyanide wastes.
